Advanced

Work faster. Explain better.

Shortcuts, gestures, legends and real-world workflows for people who annotate a lot.

Keyboard first

Single keys switch tools, so your hand never leaves the keyboard. Press ? in the app for the full list.

  • Tools

    VATLRECSPH

Select, Arrow, Text, Label, Rectangle, Ellipse, Circle, Stamp, Pen, Highlighter.

  • Sizes

    1234

    Switch S / M / L / XL — also restyles the selected mark.

  • Undo / redo

    ⌘/CtrlZShift

Ctrl / Cmd + Z to undo, add Shift to redo.

  • Back to pointer

    Esc

Drops the current tool and clears the selection.

Edit like a pro

Move, copy and arrange marks precisely.

  • Duplicate

    ⌘/CtrlD

One keystroke: makes a copy right next to the original, already selected.

  • Clone while dragging

    Altdrag

Hold Alt and drag a mark to pull out a copy.

  • Copy and paste

    ⌘/CtrlC / V

Same result as Duplicate, in two steps — use whichever habit you prefer.

  • Nudge

    ↑ ↓ ← →Shift

Move by 1 px, or 10 px with Shift.

  • Layer order

    ][

    Bring forward or send backward.

  • Resize anything

Drag corner or side handles. Text, stamps and labels keep their proportions.

Mouse, trackpad and touch

Move around big images without hunting for buttons.

  • Zoom

    Scroll+−

Scroll zooms toward your pointer. Ctrl / Cmd + 0 fits the picture.

  • Pan

    Spacedrag

Or drag with the right or middle mouse button. On a trackpad, scroll with two fingers.

  • Pinch

On phones, tablets and trackpads, pinch to zoom and move with two fingers. It never leaves a stray line.

  • Long arrows

Keep dragging past the picture edge — the arrow ends exactly where you let go.

Right-click is your friend

Borrowed from the best design tools.

  • Instant pointer

Right-click anywhere to leave the current tool and grab what's underneath.

  • Quick menu

On a mark: duplicate, copy, front / back, delete. On empty space: paste, fit, clear, shortcuts.

Legends and framing

Keep notes off the screenshot so nothing important gets covered.

  • Legend below

Pick the preset, then put numbered labels on the image and explain each one in the space below.

  • Side notes

Unlink the sides and add space only on the right for a column of comments.

  • Crop without losing

Enter a negative margin or pull an edge inward. Marks in the hidden area come back when you grow it again.

  • % or pixels

Switch units any time — values convert instantly.

Use cases

A few ways people use imagB every day.

  • Bug reports

Arrow to the problem, a number per issue, and short notes. Paste straight into the ticket.

  • Design feedback

Circle spacing issues, add 👍 stamps for what works, and list changes in a legend.

  • How-to guides

Numbered labels in order: 1 click here, 2 then here. Clear for anyone.

  • Photos and plans

Big photos work too — point out a crack on a wall or a spot on a map.

Help

Quick answers to common questions.

  • Is my image uploaded?

No. Everything stays in your browser.

  • Paste does nothing

Click the editor first, then press Ctrl / Cmd + V. Some browsers ask for permission once.

  • Marks look too small or big

Use 1–4 for sizes, or drag a mark's handles.

  • Will I lose my work?

Your work lives in this tab. Links from the editor open in a new tab, but copy or download before closing it.
